Meplazumab, also known as Mepozumab in Chinese, was developed by Chen Zhinan, an academician of the Air Force Military Medical University (formerly the Fourth Military Medical University).Meplazumab is a humanized anti-CD147 antibody, which has been used in anti-malaria research in previous studies.In 2018, the team published a research paper in Blood journal, "Disrupting CD147-rap2 interaction Abrogates erythrocyte Invasion by Plasmodium Falciparum "[4], and found that CD147 on human erythrocyte membrane was the receptor for Plasmodium falcium invasion of RBCS, with ligands on rbC-associated protein 2 (RAP2)
